The Forgotten International - Donor Groups
Over the next few years, The Forgotten International plans to establish several donor groups that will help fund a variety of projects in the U.S. and in countries around the world. These donor groups provide resources that go towards programs that improve the health, education and daily lives of impoverished women and children.
Donor groups are formed with the idea that combating poverty is a collective effort and that by combining resources we can be more effective and make a greater difference.
How To Get Started
- Prospective donor groups are formed of like-minded, socially conscious individuals who want to make a difference in the world and recognize that combating poverty requires a global solution.
- These groups are then given an introductory presentation about the work of TFI and the challenges we face as a global community.
- When the donor group decides to get involved they elect a steering committee to organize its members and select a country in which they would like to work.
- TFI will then facilitate a visit to the donor group’s country of choice where representatives from the group will be introduced to a variety of projects and organizations in need of resources.
- Upon return, the donor group must then decide which project or projects they wish to sponsor and how to go about raising funds.
- TFI will continue to act as liaison between the donor group and its chosen organizations, staying connected to both the donors and the donees. We will make all necessary financial arrangements, monitor the progress of projects throughout the year and in years to come, and seek out new projects should the interest arise. Above all, we will ensure all donor funds are used in the manner in which they were intended.
We realize, however, that a group trip is not always possible. In that case, TFI can make a presentation to your group and propose some projects for you to consider. We will, of course, monitor the funds and keep your group informed of the project's progress. One of our most effective Donor Groups is the law firm of Bingham McCutchen. They organize firm-wide giving drives and make a charitable gift to TFI each year. A recurring donation of this kind helps us support a variety of grassroots programs around the world.
