Fundraiser for TFI

Hosting a special event to benefit The Forgotten International at your home or office is something we can help you plan. We would come to your event and make a presentation about our work to your friends and colleagues and give them the opportunity to make a donation and/or get involved in our work around the world. Costs would depend on the type of event we create together. If you would be willing to open your home or office to us for this purpose, that would be wonderful!

Airline Miles

A gift that would make a big difference in our work abroad is if we could reduce our traveling costs by using donated miles. While we always look for the best deals when traveling, the cost of flying to the countries where we do our work is not within our control. We would rather put the amount that we can save on airfare towards helping more women and children with their education or basic needs. If you have miles to spare, please contact us to arrange a donation.

Projects Abroad

We have received various requests from the schools and organizations we support abroad, and we would love to see some of these requests realized in the coming year. The projects range in size and scope from providing additional ongoing scholarships for top-performing school children (as little as $100 per child, per year), to the purchase of a school bus to bring poor kids to their school ($20,000), to the building of a new school to serve disabled children ($80,000). These are just a few. A large gift that we could put towards our most needy projects abroad would be a great help to them.

Projects at Home

We are now putting aside a certain percentage of funds we receive each year to help the poor in our own local community, and we are presently exploring how best we might serve those in need here at home. As with our work abroad, our focus will remain on bringing education and community services to disadvantaged women and children. This may include newly arrived immigrants to the Bay Area, the homeless, tribal communities in Northern California, or migrant workers in the Central Valley. We want to commit at least $20,000 for pilot projects and would love to find sponsors for these projects so that we might continue to do more of this kind of work in the future.

TFI Employee #1

Our office space in San Francisco has been generously donated to us by the law firm of Perkins Coie, and they have been wonderful to us. However, at present we are staffed by part-time volunteers who only get reimbursed for their out-of-pocket expenses when they travel on our behalf. We need to hire one full-time staff person to manage the everyday operations of the foundation and oversee all important projects. We would like to be able to offer someone a competitive salary with a small stipend for healthcare for a minimum of two years. The total cost of such a hire would be $45,000 per year or $90,000 for a two-year commitment.

Unrestricted Multi-Year Gift

Sometimes it is simpler to give a gift of any amount that can be used where it is needed most throughout the year. Pledging annual support over several years would also help us with our long-term planning and make it possible for us to grow as an organization and reach more people in need around the world. Such a gift could be made by an individual or a corporation. We would love the opportunity to discuss different options with you or with someone you know who might like to help.
