Since 2004, their are 300 families of the Charan Khad slum in northern India that Tong-Len Charitable Trust has provided needed community service to. The Tong-Len Charitable Trust have set up a nursery school. For this reason, this school has given children nutritious meals, a mobile health unit, solar-powered showers, and public health education to families.
Sadly, in the Summer of 2016, the local government bulldozed the slum and evicted the entire community without plans for their relocation. Regardless, Tong-Len continued its work, offering dormitory housing and educational sponsorship for the students attending the local schools. Yet, there is concern over how to help the parents and young children of this community. We await updates as to their next steps.
