TFI learned about the work of the Euphrasia Women’s Centre on a field visit to Nairobi and its most famous slum, Kibera, in 2012. We were impressed not only by the variety of vocational skills that were taught, but also the emotional support that the women received through the crisis center. Women are able to receive income by making crafts that are sold in their shop, as well as provided with job placement assistance in careers including dressmaking, baking, and beadwork. The practical training combined with education and support the women receive makes this center a valuable asset to this community.
