Awards and Accolades

From 2010 to 2011, the Forgotten International sent Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Renée C. Byer and videographer George Rosenfeld on a journey to ten countries on four continents to examine and report on how one billion people around the world survive on less than a dollar a day. After the stories they found were published as the award-winning book Living on a Dollar a Day, we began to look at the video footage collected over the course of their travels. With the assistance of the actor and activist Pierce Brosnan, we created a campaign in order to raise the funds necessary to create a documentary film based on Living on a Dollar a Day.

In making our documentary we were extremely fortunate to have found a talented and generous video editor Karlo Gharabegian and studio videographer Glenn Shimada to add to the work George Rosenfeld had completed on the ground. Additionally, we thank Dr. Sandra Bacca, director of About Face: Domestic Violence Intervention Project, and Jim Puckett, director of the Basel Action Network (BAN). Both are experts in their respective fields and provided invaluable insight and contributions to our film. Finally, this project would not have been possible at all without the help of many donors who contributed to our campaign.
